Enjoy 10 of your favorite New Orleans pecan pralines in an attractive streetcar gift tin. You and your friends are sure to love these luscious, old-fashioned treats made by hand at Creole Delicacies Kitchens, Inc. in New Orleans. If you've ever tried making pralines at home, you'll really appreciate the smooth, creamy taste of these individually-wrapped goodies, without all the fuss. The streetcar gift tin honors one of the most recognizable symbols of New Orleans, and makes this a wonderfully unique gift for any occasion for that "hard-to-buy-for" person on your list.
One of the distinctive features of New Orleans is the city's overhead-trolley electric streetcars, which have been operated continuously since before the turn of the 20th century and are now the most prominent streetcars running in the U.S. There are several lines operating today with plans to add more lines in years to come. The St. Charles Avenue line, in service since 1893, is the oldest line that travels along the famous avenue from Downtown New Orleans through the historic Garden District and past Uptown New Orleans to the Carrollton area. The St. Charles Avenue line streetcars running today were built in 1923 and 1924 by the Perley A. Thomas Car Company of High Point, NC, and replacement parts must be hand-crafted. The expense of keeping the old cars in service is great, but it's worth it to preserve a treasured part of New Orleans' heritage. Like the streetcars, Creole Delicacies gourmet foods are mainstays of New Orleans tradition. Still made according to time-honored recipes, our products help preserve a precious culinary heritage and provide a taste of the flavor of historic New Orleans. Buy one for you and one for a friend.
