With Mam Papaul's New Orleans Style Bread Pudding with Rum Sauce, your family can enjoy this tasty New Orleans dessert tonight.
Package Directions:
Things you will need - 8 ounces (about 7 to 8 cups) of stale or fresh bread pieces; 3 1/3 cup of milk; 2 large eggs; and 12 tbsp. of butter or margarine.
Optional ingredients - any one or combination of the following - 1/3 cup raisins, semisweet or white chocolate chips, shredded coconut, dried cranberries or chopped pecans; or 1/2 cup of fresh blueberries or cubed pineapple; or 2/3 cup dried apricots; or about 2 mashed, medium bananas, etc.
In a large mixing bowl or electric mixer, combine Mam Papaul's Bread Pudding mix with 3 cups milk, 6 tbsp. melted butter/margarine, and 2 large eggs. Fold in 8 ounces (about 7 to 8 cups) of cubed fresh or stale bread pieces. Mixture should be moist but not soupy. If desired, add any of the optional ingredients listed. Bake in coated 8x8x2 baking dish at 350 degrees for about 1 hr to 1 hour 15 minutes, until nicely browned on top. While bread pudding is baking, prepare rum sauce by mixing Mam Papaul's Rum Sauce mix with 6 tbsp. of butter/margarine and 1/3 cup milk. Bring mixture to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Serve over warm bread pudding.
